*** AS POSTED ON THE USA ROLLER SPORTS WEBSITE ***
Lincoln, Neb. – December 23, 2014
The use of 125mm wheels is currently permitted at Indoor Nationals and at Outdoor Nationals (in non-qualifying events). This guideline will also apply to the Pan American Championships. The current rule states:
SR371.5 The use of speed wheels, 110mm or smaller, is also required at any outdoor speed skating event designated as the USARS sanctioned National Trials for the FIRS World Championships and/or the Pan American Games. At the present time, this includes both the National Banked Track Championships and the National Road Championships.
Please note: 125mm wheels ARE NOT permitted in the Junior and Senior World Class event at Team USA Trials/Outdoor National Championships. Competitors may use 125mm wheels in Juvenile, Freshman, Junior, Senior and Masters (non-qualifying events) at Outdoor Nationals.
This is not a new rule; however with the introduction of 125mm wheels, clarification is needed.
